The one week old pie factory is situated opposite the east London mosque, a pivotal location to draw in the worshipers  city workers and passersby who would e drawn by the smell of freshly made puff pastry made within the premises, not forgetting the various different types of pies which grace the window display. They serve jacket potatoes with various fresh fillings and breakfast from the full English, veggie to the Indian. Loving it already I thought!

We purchased two pies. One for the Rahman’s and one for sharing before we headed home. We tuck into a chicken and mushroom pie with good serving of gravy and two sides. The pie is served with two servings of sidelines; salad, wedges or roasted vegetables.  We chose the roasted vegetables and the mash.

The verdict? The pie was cooked with absolute perfection. Crispy, thick layer of homemade puff pastry, golden brown topping which looked inviting as it was to eat. The chicken was moist, cubed and the mushrooms were not over powering, the sauce was delicious, well seasoned and moorish. This pie had all the goodness and freshness of homemade pie without the additional trimmings of double cream and cheese. The mash was by far the best thing on the plate. Freshly cooked and seasoned well, Morris Piper potatoes, they were clearly not scrimping on any of the ingredients. You could smell the butter which oozed through the floury texture of the freshly cooked mash. The smell and aroma was mouth watering and we tucked in adding the gravy to suit our own tastes. Though the portion of mash was small for my liking, the portion of vegetables weighed it out evenly. Lightly grilled and tossed in olive oil and garnished for a  homemade meal inviting you to indulge in.

Would I go there again? 100% yes! Fresh ingredients, clean décor, home cooked food bursting with freshness.
