Tas Firin Bethnal Green
The legendary, never duplicated, often imitated, one and only epic ribs of Tas Firin!
wpid-IMAG0772.jpgWell here it is, the long awaited Tas Firin review. I had to prep myself, make several visits to try to grasp the words I could use to compile the epic Ribs at Tas Firin. Just looking at the pictures I took are making me salivate and drool on what is consistently the best ribs and kebab shop in town. For those local foodies and Shortditch kebab junkies this place needs no intro, just pass by any day of the week and see the hype is real.

We initially came to know of Tas around 6 years ago, on passing by we decided to try the Lahmachun, it was our quick fix. Lahmachun rolls or double Lahmachun rolls also known as a the DLR. Maybe its the nostalgia of our youth that brings us back again and again. In those 6 years we have been to the mediocre likes of Wood Oven Grills and Efes. If you like your ribs, shish and kebabs you know what I’m talking about. Each place has its specialities, Tas Firin it’s their Ribs and Chicken Shish.

Let’s get to the drooling details, firstly don’t mistakenly visit the fake Tas Firin on High Road Ilford. The one we are referring to is located at 160 Bethnal Green Road. Get there early or early in the week to not get disappointed, this place gets busy. On arrival we order our usual, chicken shish to share and lamb ribs each. As you wait the BBQ grill master works his magic in the background, constantly turning and keeping his watchful eye on the grill which sits on a wood fire base. Occasionally using the flat breads to soak up some of the flavours dripping from the leanest ribs you will ever have.

The chicken shish is simply amazing, smokey and moist. Juicy succulent mushrooms and tomatoes with a side of creamy rice to complement each dish. We devour the chicken shish which is normally a main dish, but for us it’s a starter and is a must for any visit.

The ribs arrive, oozing, sizzling, time seems to freeze for a moment. Epic! so lean, moist and mouth watering. We stop all conversation, go straight in, each of us with our own techniques. Mine is race through each rib to the bone while they are hot off the grill, before taking a pause and returning to clear the meat soaked bread. On each visit, we try to dissect the flavours, you just can’t put your finger on it. Buttery, creamy, peppery with a hint of salt. So simple, I hope Tas Firin never changes their ways.

Writing this review is becoming difficult I must say, Tas Firin’s ribs are simply the best I have had in my opinion. Now before you all say hold on you haven’t tried this place and that place in North London, I have more than I can count. I have been going around town trying out recommendations and have been disappointed many times. In fact Halal Eat Out was formed due to a disappointing recommendation.

Until someone else can prove otherwise, the legendary, never duplicated, often imitated, one and only epic ribs of Tas Firin is the one! You gotta try it! I have taken many friends and colleagues to Tas Firin, to this date just the mention of these ribs gets mouths watering!
